Time: 04 March 2011.  14:00-18:00

Programme

The first ZERO CO2 Conference organized in 2007 aimed at focusing attention on climate change and architecture, how energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources can reduce CO2 emission. The main subject of the conference in 2008 was sustainability, we introduced dedicated energy efficient and environment friendly projects. The 2009 conference dealt with the effects of the economic crisis, in relation to economy, environment and society, urging a paradigm shift in the profession.
The UIA (International Union of Architects) "Architecture for a Sustainable Future" Work Programme Region II. organizes the conference again in 2011. The patron of the conference is the Association of Hungarian Architects. The aim of the conference is to promote sustainable by design strategy showing sustainability through practical, fresh, inspiring projects, focusing on zero emission. Protection of the environment is a concern for all, and the responsibility of architecture is unavoidable. The future oriented new projects and concepts justify that this new challenge may lead to the renewal of architecture as well.
The  ZERO CO2  "Sustainable Architecture" conference aims at presenting near-zero energy and carbon free architectural projects, promoting high performing buildings, energy efficiency and renewable sources. The reduction of emission should not be limited to operation only, the production, transport, construction and re-use of materials should be considered as well. We should take into account the whole life cycle of production, operation, maintenance and recycling. Environmental sustainability should coincide with economic and social sustainability, as the creation and maintenance of the built environment is one of the engines of economy with a huge social impact.
The ZERO CO2 conference is a forum, where dedicated and interested professionals in sustainable construction can meet and exchange ideas. The conference is accredited by the Chamber of Architects as a continuing professional education.
